Package builder.hardsid

package builder.hardsid
A native interface invented by the former company HardSID.com. They produced and sold a hardware to attach real SID chips for playback on a PC at the beginning of the 20th century. It was very popular, because the emulation quality was still a bit poor in former times. Novadays only professionals will distinguish emulated sound from a real chip and still prefer the real deal. HardSID.com were providing this interface, an implementation and a device driver along with their hardware. This was mainly used, when their hardware was still based on ISA PC cartridges and later evolved using USB. Our emulator includes an implementation of that interface to use USB based hardware of that company for SID chip playback.

    Thanks to Wilfred for his excellent explanation: Now-a-days there are SID chips that can act as 2 SID chips, like the SIDKick Pico which the USBSID device supports.
    Support of HARDSID USB devices like HardSID Uno, HardSID UPlay and HardSID4U.

    FakeStereo mode uses two chips using the same base address.
